The Buck Knife 290 has a 2 1/2 inch drop point blade of Buck's premium 420 HC stainless, it's 3 3/4 inches long when closed, and it weighs 2.4 ounces.

The Model 291 is the version that's available with a blade of 154 CM steel.

This Buck assisted opening knife has aluminum handle scales with openings machined in them to reduce the weight of the knife.
The handle colors available are platinum and midnight blue.

When you start to open the knife and get the blade to a certain point, a spring takes over and swings the blade all the way open, and then the liner locks it open.

When you unlock and close the blade, you feel the spring resisting all the way back to the point where it started to spring open.
At that point, spring tension lets up and the blade of the Buck Knife 290 folds all the way closed.
